People are exasperated at high inflation and confusing health news due to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s so bad that anytime I get on the road, I start to Mr. Grinch on the gas pedal. It’s been rough for all of us, me included. People are still suffering setbacks from job losses, family members who were ill and just really bad energy all around. Coupled by the Russo-Ukranian conflict, it seems like this country (and the entire world) is more divided than ever. It has good merit too. Most governments tend not to be transparent in their motives within the nation and abroad. The United States government has also tended to favor people that are white collar workers and north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Also, black people who are descendents of slaves in this country have been used as guinea pigs for capital and marginalized since 1650 when race-based slavery became a thing. So, yea. I mean, these are all valid. Unfortunately, this mistrust has led to an inability to use our blessed position as the richest nation in the world and use vaccines that could have gone to other countries.
Like I always say, the United States is just a mini-version of the world. The baby of the Atlantic World’s fucking relations. Africa, Europe, Asia, and the natives of the New World that are left. Europe and the United States ended up getting the majority of vaccines that were on the market and that left countries in Latin America, Africa and much of Asia outside the far East for the dust. India and Brazil ended up getting the brunt of the delta wave when most of its citizens are vaccine-friendly. The monetization of life-saving vaccines where “poor” and “rich” countries duke it out is quite depressing. We acknowledge that capital accumulation due to Atlantic trade allowed for Europe(mostly Great Britain) and North America(U-S-A!!) to become rich af. The shift from cash crops to mass production of goods allowed them to separate from their Latin counterparts(Portugal, Brazil and Spain) and become the global leaders of the world.
Atlantic Africa was also a part of this process that involved the export of over 12-15 million people to mostly the Americas to aid in this capital accumulation process. It was all in all a horrible business move by the states of Atlantic Africa, who found the goods enticing and vital for their economy. It caused plenty of psychological strife because people were used as currency. Racial biases; disgust; and control measures allowed for harmful ideologies that are etched in the mentals of most countries with an Atlantic coastline. Combine that with colonization in the 19th and 20th century and we see the divisive monster that was created.
In the global changes that occurred, life still went on. We formed relationships, had families and saw the good and bad from people of all people groups. It’s just that one evil won out over another evil. However, evil is still evil. As individuals, keep in mind that we are all capable of bullshit as seen by civil wars in countries and even within families. Of course, the bigger picture is that the current economic rules at play are on a VERY shaky foundation based on the currency system of Europe but in our everyday lives, let us try to understand our true motives and end goal for the world and our future children.
My guilty pleasure, all things being considered, would be for all countries to have a sit down about currency value and maybe have an alternative to the types of money we use as tender. A more agreeable approach. However, we all know this world is not very agreeable. We would not have all these wars then for resources and niggas wouldn’t have gotten up and left Africa. Speaking of Africa, at least Atlantic Africa, it would be a far better economic outlook if we were able to demarcate our borders ourselves without ex-colonial master input. It would be easier to vouch for oneself. Peace would be a crapshoot but I think it would be better. India might have to do the same as well as other Southeast Asian nations. Less civil war, better advocacy and better ability to “unite”. Every nation on this earth has something to offer the global village. New ideas that still benefit them and their individuals. Not just the “West”. Pandemics will be more and more common as we develop and encroach on nature. Climate change and environmental issues will also need tending to. Unity with beneficial boundaries can help not sharpen warfare iron with iron but allows for water to rise collectively in this fast-growing web we call the world.
